Sometimes the file get corrupted during transfer. Abdul Mannan via db2-l wrote: Read today's most popular Database problem-solving article.

The IXFs are version-dependant. I tried to load an IXF exported from DB2 7.1 ( on AIX v5 on F80 ) to DB2 5.2 ( on AIX v4.3.3 on F50 ) and but could not load. Loading an IXF from DB2 5.2 to 7.1 is normally not an issue. In cases where the IXF size is very large, I've faced the 'Invalid D-record' errror. In cases where the IXF contains a BLOB field, loading fails even when loading from DB2 v5.2 to v7.1. Some things I do to solve these errors are: 1. Remove any indexes and export the IXF again.
In case of large files, I export the contents to a CSV file and then import into the destination database. In some cases, while exporting to IXF, system runs out of disk-space. In such cases also an IXF is created, but is actually a corrupt file. Importing such an incomplete IXF definitely gives errors.
Hope this helps.
